Mark’s Gruelling Walk In Gloria’s Memory

first_imgOn June 7th 2007, Gloria Brimson lost her life after complications during surgery. She had an arteriovenous malformation, which came to light while they were travelling in Australia. The last ten years have been tough. As a young man Mark struggled to come to terms with the grief and loss – and on the ninth anniversary of her passing, feared that he may join his late wife as his health was suffering. On that day he decided to take on a huge challenge, to celebrate Glo’s life and to lay down a positive memory for years to come.So on the Monday (March 20th), Mark and a team of fellow walkers – Olly Culverhouse, Nicky Marshall, Matthew Poole, Paul Simpson and Adrian Chase – left Plymouth Argyle FC, the first away game fixture Mark took Glo to.After five marathons in five days they will arrive at Bristol Rovers’ Memorial Ground – the team that Mark has supported since he was four years-old.The plan is to raise £10,000 for Headway Bristol – the charity that would have supported Glo had she survived the operation.“I have been amazed by the support of my family and friends, especially as none of the other walkers knew Glo,” said Mark.  “Sponsors have stepped forward to help with the costs of the walk and donations have been streaming in. I would love to get to our £10,000 target, as this means so much to me personally.”I already feel better mentally from the process of arranging this and now as a team we can’t wait to get walking.”Donations can be made via: or texting 70070 quoting GLOR73 £amountlast_img
