Men’s Tennis bounces back with win against Florida Southern

first_img at University of West Alabama 2/14/2020 – 1:00 PM Full Schedule Roster Preview Next Game: LAKELAND, Fla.- A day after falling 4-0 to Georgia Gwinnett, the third ranked UWF Men’s Tennis Team recovered to defeated Sunshine State Conference opponent, Florida Southern by a score of 4-3, Monday afternoon at the Valdosta State University Tennis Complex.UWF was boosted early as they grabbed the doubles point as they secured two out of three matches.  The pairing of seniors Serdar Bojadiev and Nicholas Lecoutre dominated their match winning by a final of 6-2.Bojadiev, a top-30 ITA pre-season singles player and a native of Sweden, was part of the number one doubles team for UWF and went 6-1 on the season.  Fellow senior Juan Motta and sophomore Pedro Cordeiro were the other duo for the Argonauts to win by a final of 7-5.Motta and Lecoutre turned around and dominated their singles matches by scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-4, respectively.  For Motta, he looks to continue where he left off from last season as he finished third in the Gulf South Conference with a record of 14-2.  Lecoutre, a French native, took a year off the team before returning but he looks to be rounding into form.The Argonaut win in the singles portion was actually started by Bojadiev who defeated Valentin Hertwick, 6-4, 6-3. It was a new position for Bojadiev as last year he was the #1 singles player but early in this season he has been in the #3 spot for the Argos.West Florida will get a little bit of time off before returning to action this weekend as they head to Alabama for three straight days of action.  The matches begin with a contest against West Alabama, Friday, February 14th at 1pm.Fans can follow the team on Twitter @TennisUwf or by visiting Friendly Versionlast_img
