A larger screen version, marking Apple’s entry into the phablet market, will follow in September. With an increasing proportion of sales coming from devices with screens above 5-inches, and such smartphones being especially popular in lucrative Asian markets, it has long been anticipated that Apple would move into this sector.BGR said that in order to fit the 4.7-inch screen in the standard iPhone, it will be around 11 per cent longer and 14 per cent wider, although it will also be thinner. It will also feature a more rounded design than the current device. It has not been confirmed if Apple intends to offer two devices akin to the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c – premium and lower price – in the iPhone 6 line.Earlier reports also suggested it will gain NFC support. On the software front, is expected that Apple will provide an update on the next release of iOS at its developer event, which is set to be held next month.Anticipated features include a raft of health-related features, possibly integrating with the long anticipated – but never confirmed – iWatch. The much maligned Maps application is also expected to receive an overhaul.last_img
