first_imgThe National Workers’ Week and Labour Day thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, May 18 at the Covenant Moravian Church, on Molynes Road in Kingston starting at 9:30 a.m.Workers’ Week will commence on Sunday, May 18 and culminate with Labour Day activities on Friday, May 23.Vice President of the Jamaica Evangelical Alliance, Rennard White will deliver the sermon under this year’s Labour Day theme, ‘Take a Stand…Beautify Our Land’, assisted by Rev. Jermaine Gibson.The event is being organised by the Committee for the Promotion of National Religious Services in collaboration with the National Labour Day and Workers’ Week Core Committee, of the Ministry of Youth and Culture.Chairperson of the Committee for the Promotion of National Religious Services, Dr. Patricia Holness, said preparations for the service are progressing smoothly.“We look forward to a blessed time as we celebrate and give thanks to workers and also to ask God for guidance on Labour Day when we will concentrate on beautifying our land, “she said.Dr. Holness said it is important to thank workers who have been making a meaningful contribution to Jamaica’s development.“We work in the industries, we work in our homes, we work in churches, and children are in school working hard to get a good education.
